Why the name?
Mollusks are soft-bodied animals with hard shells of protection and make up one of the most diverse groups of animals in the world. The Mollusk Project aims to give librarians that hard shell of protection in the face of workplace lateral violence (incivility, bullying, mobbing, etc.). Through evidence-based intervention, we seek to transform library culture into one that values empathy and civility. We believe that with training, consistent communication, and intentional policy making and enforcement we can drastically reduce incivility among library employees.
